I just thought they were super sweet!On Thursday, I noticed that the baby's toe was very red and swollen and it appeared that something was wrapped around it. I'm determined not to be an overprotective mother, calling the ped every day, so I looked on the internet to research this condition. Apparently, it's something called a "hair tourniquet". This happens when a hair or fiber wraps around a babies finger or toe and cuts off circulation. As you can imagine, the consequences can be serious. I then decided to call his doctor's office and the nurse said to bring him in right away. By the time we got there, he had somehow popped the hair off. The doctor told us that this is a fairly common condition. Who knew!?!
