Eleven Months

Baby is now eleven months old. It seems like he went from a passive observer laying on a blanket to an active pre-toddler, exploring everything just overnight! He is so curious and interested in how everything works! Daddy says he's "checking the engineering".
Baby pulls up on all of the furniture and is crawling up the steps. He is also cruising the furniture. I think he'll be walking in another 1-2 months.
He still sleeps well and eats poorly! It's a daily struggle to get him to eat. He barely eats enough to keep a bird alive. We've given up on baby food. He now drinks bottles and eats only finger foods.
Parenthood is exciting, but also exhausting! It's hard to keep up with such a fast little guy! If you turn you back for a few seconds, he ends up in another room, in the dog's cage or sitting in a puddle of water after overturning the dog bowls.

Janet Evanovich

Sarah and I went to a Janet Evanovich book signing this week. I'll be the first to admit that Janet writes some pretty trashy books. She used to be a Harlequin romance novelist. But, after reading about neurons, Freud's lectures and child psychopathology, I really need some popcorn!
I went to a Janet Evanovich book signing about 4 years ago. This time, I noticed that Janet looks a lot younger than several years ago. I was feeling pretty bold, so I asked her if she had some work done. She said, "The full lift, honey. And it was worth every penny!"

Visit with the Smiths

Baby enjoyed visiting with his Mamaw, Papaw and Aunt Sarah this past week.

Daddy!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of those men we can't live without!

Aquarium

We visited Newport Aquarium this week. They have an interesting exhibit called "Shark Fest". You can view several kinds of rare sharks and even pet some of the tamer species.

First Swimming Experience

Baby went swimming for the first time this week. He really didn't enjoy the cold water of the pool. I think he will like swimming when the water heats up.

Update

It's been very busy in the Smith household. We had hardwood floors installed in the living and dining rooms this week. What a mess! And, it was so noisy that I'm shocked baby could nap. But, what an improvement in the house!

We are excited that Aunt Sarah is visiting for 2 weeks. Poor Sarah got here on Saturday after spending 36 hours stranded in Dulles Airport. Baby is so happy to have Aunt Sarah here. He "shows off" his new skills for her.

Baby continues to do well. He's a finicky eater, but we've discovered that he loves junk food! Especially cheeseburgers, cookies and brownies. Oh no! We are counting down the days until his first birthday!
