Turning Point

I think this past week has been a major turning point in baby's life. He is finally crawling the "normal" way and is pulling up on all of the furniture. He is so curious about the world and wants to explore everything!
He is becoming quite the affectionate little guy. If we lay on the floor, he will crawl over and put his mouth over our mouths. I really think this is the beginnings of a kiss. I've always been interested in developmental psychology and attachment theory. So, this really fascinates me, not only as his mother, but also as a future psychologist :) He seems to be establishing a healthy, secure attachment. We are truly "safe bases" to whom he returns after a few minutes of exploring.
I'm enjoying motherhood more each day. It's so much fun to see him acquire new skills.

Zoo

We visited the zoo today. Baby seemed more interested in the people than the animals. I really enjoyed seeing all of the new animal babies! The Cincinnati Zoo is celebrating animal families of all kinds.

Ten Months

Baby will be 10 months old this week. Lots of new things have happened this past month.
Baby is crawling, but not in the traditional sense. For the past few weeks, he's been doing a sort of inchworm crawl, pulling himself across the floor. I'm not totally convinced that he's going to crawl in the "normal" manner. But he still gets around well and can go from one end of the room to another in the blink of an eye.
We're beginning to notice some stranger anxiety. He no longer goes to anyone indiscriminantly. In fact, we were at the mall several days ago and a strange woman came up and got very close to his face. He completely freaked out and screamed bloody murder. I think she learned her lesson!
While baby once seemed to eat anything and everything we gave him, he is now becoming quite the finicky eater. He is much more interested in playing than eating. He has also realized that he can refuse by closing his mouth and turning his head.
We are really starting to see some beginnings of personality in this cute little guy. I hope he has his daddy's brains and my sense of adventure!
I'll post some pics later.

School

Here are some pictures of the people in my PsyD program. As one of the other students said, it's a "premiere" group of adults. The level of talent, experience and insight is phenomenal!

The famous artist, Anne Vanderlaan is even in my classes. Check out her website:

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy day to all of the mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, mothers-to-be and any woman who just loves children!
We celebrated the day by going to King's Island. It was a fun day. Daddy and I took turns riding the coasters. Baby even got on his first ride - the Scooby Doo Haunted Castle.

Busy Lives

Wow! It just seems that our lives can't get any busier. I hope I'm not proven wrong!

I started school last week. I can honestly say that I feel my life is full -or rather, fulfilling! School is exactly what I needed to stimulate me and give me a renewed sense of vitality. I'm so excited. Exausted, but excited. I can't help but think of Cesar Millan - "A tired dog is a fulfilled dog". Unfortunately, Ollie and Leeza don't seem so fulfilled.

Baby is still the sweetest little guy ever. He had a nice visit with his Papaw this week. He isn't crawling, but he is able to get around by pulling himself across the floor in an inch worm type manner. He seems to be able to get where he wants to go.

Daddy is finishing up his first year at Xavier. He is excited about the summer and teaching some extra MBA classes.

We plan to use our King's Island season passes this weekend. It will be baby's first of many trips to an amusement park. He'd better like roller coasters when he gets older. Otherwise, he'll miss out on lots of fun times!

Creepy Baby!

As you can see, we've had some serious fun!

If you're wondering why I'm posting so many pictures today, it's because I start school on Friday. My first PsyD residency begins this Friday and I don't think I'll have time to post for a while. So, here you go. Lots of baby pictures.

Baby continues to do well. He weighs 18 lbs. and is getting too big for his car seat and bathtub (as you can see from bottom pictures). He's still eating and sleeping well. He can wave and babbles lots of different consonants. He is soooo close to crawling. He gets up on his knees, rocks and even scoops forward a little bit. But, he just hasn't been able to put it all together.

Wishful Thinking!
